How to calculate CBM

What is CBM?

CBM means cubic metre (m³), a measure of cargo volume. One cubic metre is the space occupied by a box measuring one metre on each side.

This calculates cargo volume. Contact us for a shipping quotation.

How to measure your cartons

Measure the longest outside length, width, and height of a fully packed carton, including packaging and any protruding parts. Use the same unit for all three dimensions. This calculator is for identical cartons; enter their dimensions once and add the number of cartons.

Length (m) × width (m) × height (m) × carton quantity = total CBM

Worked example

For 10 identical cartons measuring 50 × 40 × 30 cm each:

0.5 × 0.4 × 0.3 × 10 = 0.6 m³

Frequently asked questions

Can I use inches?

Yes. Select inches for all three dimensions. One inch equals 0.0254 metres. Switching units converts the dimensions already entered, keeping the physical size unchanged. Recalculate to update the summary.

What if my cartons have different sizes?

Calculate each group of identical cartons separately and add their volumes. This version handles one group at a time.

Is shipment weight required?

No. Weight does not change CBM. If supplied, the total shipment weight you enter is included in your quote request.

Does this calculate a shipping price?

No. It calculates cargo volume only. Contact Najmat Alwaleed on WhatsApp to discuss your cargo, route, and shipping quotation.

Which number formats can I enter?

Western digits (0–9), Arabic digits (٠–٩), and Persian digits (۰–۹) are accepted. Use . or ٫ for decimals. Omit commas, spaces, and thousands separators to avoid ambiguity.
