Shipping
Air or sea freight: which fits your shipment?
Compare the whole journey, your deadline and your cargo before choosing a transport option.
Begin with the deadline
Air freight is generally a faster option; sea freight can suit less urgent, larger consignments. Ask for available routes and an estimated door-to-door schedule for your actual shipment. The flight or sailing time is only one part of the journey.
Prepare one brief for both options
Use the same goods description, packed dimensions, gross weight, carton count and delivery address when requesting both quotes. Keep the required delivery date unchanged. This avoids comparing two prices based on different assumptions.
Think about packing and handling
Check whether the cargo can be stacked and whether it needs pallets or protective packing. For a fragile item, describe the existing protection and ask if it suits the proposed service. Confirm acceptance of special cargo before making a booking.
Look beyond the main transport price
Compare total quoted cost, service scope and timing together. Ask how chargeable weight is calculated and whether destination handling and final delivery are included. Avoid using a generic online rate as a final price for your cargo.
Use a simple decision note
Write down three things: the latest acceptable delivery date, the confirmed packing and the complete quoted scope. If both modes meet the deadline, compare the full cost and handling arrangements. If neither does, discuss a revised plan rather than assuming a faster route is available.
